Chat GPT & Large Language Models
The world of AI and data science wouldn’t be complete without addressing the importance of Large Language Models such as chat GPT. It is a fun tool and can be integrated into many systems, including the Microsoft Power Platform. I have tested Chat GPT by asking it to create a letter summarizing the person’s skill sets and work history. Overall it did a good job summarizing the skills, although it still seems to want to add creative flourishes that are largely out of place in this format of writing. Humans will still have to edit and read them before being used.
So why is it so important?, Does it harken back to the time we all thought that having a conversation with a computer was nothing but science fiction?
I know. Why don’t we ask Chat GPT why Chat GPT is so important?
Question: Explain why Chat GPT is so important to everyone.
Chat GPT answer:
Chat GPT is an important technology because it is a large language model that can understand and generate human-like language. This means it has the ability to understand and respond to questions, engage in conversation, and generate text that is coherent and relevant to a given topic.
One of the main benefits of Chat GPT is that it can be used to enhance communication and collaboration across various industries and fields. For example, it can be used in customer service to provide quick and accurate responses to customer inquiries, or in healthcare to provide patients with information about their medical conditions and treatments.
Additionally, Chat GPT can be used to automate various tasks, such as generating content for social media or writing news articles. This can save time and resources for businesses and organizations, while also ensuring that the content produced is of high quality.
Overall, Chat GPT has the potential to revolutionize the way we communicate and interact with technology, making it an important tool for everyone to be aware of and utilize.
Not bad; kinda stiff but passable. Although with anything, there are many people poking holes in the validity and usefulness of Large Language Models (LLMs). I asked Chat GPT what some of its shortcomings were.
Question: What are the shortcomings of Chat GPT?
Chat GPT answer:
While Chat GPT is an impressive technology with many potential benefits, it also has some shortcomings that are important to consider. Some of the major limitations of Chat GPT include:
1)Lack of common sense:
While Chat GPT can generate coherent and grammatically correct text, it doesn’t have a deep understanding of the world in the same way that humans do. This means that it can sometimes generate responses that don’t make sense or are irrelevant to the context
2) Bias:
Like any machine learning model, Chat GPT is only as good as the data it is trained on. If the data used to train the model is biased, this bias can be reflected in the responses it generates. This can lead to discriminatory or harmful language and perpetuate existing societal biases.
3) Limited contextual understanding:
Chat GPT is best at generating responses based on the information provided in the immediate context. However, it may not be able to take into account broader contextual factors or draw on information from previous conversations or interactions.
4) Inability to empathize:
Chat GPT is not capable of understanding or empathizing with human emotions in the same way that another person could. This means that it may sometimes generate responses that are tone-deaf or insensitive to the emotional state of the person it is interacting with.
5) Limited ability to reason:
Chat GPT can generate responses based on patterns and correlations in the data it is trained on, but it doesn’t have the same ability to reason and think critically as a human would. This means that it may sometimes generate responses that are not logically consistent or that make incorrect assumptions.
Overall, while Chat GPT is an impressive technology with many potential benefits, it is important to be aware of its limitations and to use it in appropriate contexts where its strengths can be maximized and its weaknesses minimized.
I would say that is a pretty good answer, but it is missing the knowledge that it has no concept of ethics or truth, although it scratches at the surface of both with the mention of Bias.
Whatever happens from here will surely be a surprise.
Kind Regards
